About the Recipe
This recipe is simple to cook and fun to make. If you have kids, you can involve them by having them help you in the shaping portion. It is an excellent way to build family memories in the kitchen. These beauties are a load of all good healthy nutrients and an ideal way to substitute meat proteins for how all the ingredients in this recipe combine.

Ingredients
2 Cups Dry Orange Lentils
1 Garlic Clove
1 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Tsp Sea Salt
1 Carrot
1 Cup Bread Crumbs
Smoked Paprika to Taste
Arugula as Needed
Red Onion as Needed
Homemade Cashew Mayonnaise (recipe here)
Preparation
Add the lentils to a pot containing 1.5 L of water and bring it to a boil.
Once it reaches the boiling point, reduce the burner's heat to the minimum.
Add a wooden spoon to one edge of the pot and cover with the pot's lid.
Let the lentils cook till soft; it should take about thirty minutes.
After 30 minutes, turn off the burner and drain the lentils into a colander.
Put a quarter cup of lentils out of the whole cooked amount and set it aside.
Clean, peel and chop the carrot and add to the lentils.
Peel and cut into two half the garlic and remove the inner germ.
Add the garlic halves, the extra virgin olive oil, the sea salt, and the smoked paprika to the lentils and carrot.
Blend till combined.
Add the whole cooked lentils and the bread crumbs and mix by hand till combined.
Wet your hand with some extra virgin olive oil and shape the patties.
Cook the burgers in an anti sticky pan till crunchy.
Garnish your whole wheat burger bun ( burger pun recipe here) with lettuce, tomatoes, and some cashew mayonnaise (recipe here.)
